New Year's resolutions are made by 45% of Americans each year. Creating resolutions for yourself both professionally and for your organization should also be done. Below is a list of website and content management action items to make 2020 a successful year!
If you're not using any web analytics tools, why not? If you have Google Analytics, consider adding Google Tag Manager to easily track conversions. Then, commit to checking these tools quarterly or monthly. Do you have a benchmark for how your website performed each month in 2019 and in 2019 overall? Don't forget about your email platform and social media channels.
If you have a new site, then chances are it was optimized for speed. If it's been a while try tools like Google’s PageSpeed Insights and GTMetrix to give you an idea of your page load times. The results don't necessarily require a developer. Most of the time, you can compress images and see a second drop off page load times. These reporting tools will give you a detailed list of what can be done to improve your site's speed.
Don't just do this one time per year. Shoot for at least three times in 2020. Or, to make it easier on yourself sign up for GTMetrix's free monitoring. Each week you'll receive a report and they track performance for you!
Marketpath CMS just released integration with Zapier. You can create Zaps to link web form submissionss to your email platform, download to Excel or Google Sheets, or send web conference invites for you. Or, integrate with any of Zapier's 54 social media accounts and marketing applications. When you publish a blog post or an event, a Zap can be configured with LinkedIn or Hootsuite to promote the new content, and you can move along to your next task.
If you're like most marketers, you're managing multiple tools that don't collaborate with each other. Take some time to take a step back and evaluate all the tools you're using. If there are overlaps, consider consolidating (your budget will thank you). Perhaps there's software out there that can do the same thing as three of your tools for 75% of the price.
If you're unhappy with your CMS or your website needs a refresh, consider using Marketpath. Does your current content management system allow you to build unique and custom solutions, automate processes, and take your marketing to the next level with personalization?
You may not have the bandwidth or budget to attempt to do all of the above or more. So, don't. Pick one or two things and do them well in 2020. When 2021 arrives, you'll have established the base and you can take on more!
